This will be the eleventh edition of the Indian Super League

The 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season is about to start on September 13, marking the 11th edition of this exciting football league. This season will feature 13 top teams competing to be crowned the best club in India.

This year, the league is expanding with 13 teams, thanks to the promotion of Mohammedan Sporting Club from the I-League. Mohun Bagan Super Giant, the defending champions, will kick off the season by hosting Mumbai City FC in the opening match.

Several new changes are set to make the ISL even more thrilling. First, teams are no longer required to include at least one player from an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) nation. Additionally, the salary cap for Indian players has been raised to ₹18 crores, up from ₹16.5 crores last season.

Other updates include a red-card appeal system, allowing teams to challenge what they believe to be incorrect red card decisions. There is also a new "home-grown player" rule, which permits each club to have three Indian players, who have been with the club for three or more years, excluded from the salary cap.

These changes are set to make the ISL more dynamic and engaging. With enhanced multi-camera coverage and extensive broadcasting, fans around the world can look forward to an even more exciting season of Indian Super League football.
